Heidi Ulmke was born in Bremen. In 1975, she took the first step into the filmbusiness and started working as an line produceer and assistant director on various feature films, documentary and commercial productions. From here she moved on to become a director and finally a producer.
After working several years in these various capacities for leading German production companies, Heidi Ulmke took 1990 the step to FFP Entertainment GmbH and took over the Story 6 Development Department. In 2000 Heidi Ulmke moved to the new founded FFP Media GmbH, a company that concentrates in the production of german TV-Movies and is directly assosiated with FFP New Media.
In her first years Heidi Ulmke was devoted to producing feature films for theatrical distribution, but eventually, Heidi Ulmke realized that in the long run, the only way to survive in this business was to also produce television programming for the German broadcasters. Since then, Heidi Ulmke has gone on to produce some of the most successful television entertainment in the country.
Among her many credits, which include more than 100 TV-Movies, numerous series and mini series for all the leading broadcasters, Heidi Ulmke was the one who spearheaded one of the most popular children’s series, “Famous Five” for ZDF.
Heidi Ulmke was the first producer in Germany to secure all audio-visual rights from some of the most famous internationally acclaimed novelists, such as Rosamunde Pilcher, Barbara Wood, Joy Fielding and Enid Blyton, who’s television adaptions have all gone on to be TV market share champions. For ZDF alone, she has produced over 70 “Rosamunde Pilcher Collection” TV-Movies, all of which have enjoyed top ratings in this market.
Since 2004 further Pilcher book rights had been acquired and will be produced until now.
Besides her activities in the german television market, Heidi Ulmke has successfully driven to produce for the international television market and in this area, FFP Entertainment has been a fore-runner. For example, FFP, in association with Larry Levinson Productions, produced HARD TIME, a trilogy starring Burt Reynolds, for ARD and TNT. Then there are the numerous TV-Movies with coproduction partners such as SABAN Entertainment, Zenith North, Portman Productions and Victoria Films in Denmark.
In 2000 she realized the the mini series of Barbara Woods Novel “The Dreaming” as Executive Producer and Director in Australia and as Executive Producerl further Barbara Wood Novels for e.g. “Hounds and Jackels” in Mexico or “Vital Signs” in the USA.
In 2004 a Co-Production of 2 x 90 minutes has been produced in Singapore between Singapore and Germany for the international market.
In 2003 and 2005 she produced two TV-Movies for Degeto Film, which has been shoot in Munich and in surrounding area.
The novel “Ocean Apart” from Robin Pilcher and Barbara Woods novel “Domina” has been filmed in England in 2005.
